New ideas: Stop Motion and Window Decor! Check out Home Learning - Day 12!
"Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier."
- Mother Teresa
Good morning friends! I hope you are finding things to be thankful for in your time of isolation today. Hopefully the quotation above can inspire you as you go through your day today.

Activity #1 - Make Breakfast - Cheese Omlette with Fruit and Toast
I can't believe we haven't tried making an omlette yet! These are another one of my breakfast favourites. Actually, all of my favourite breakfasts include eggs. They are so delicious!
Hopefully you have fun making this recipe: https://www.americastestkitchen.com/kids/recipes/cheese-omelet
Remember to clean up after you finish! You are learning such great life skills for when you move out and have your own kitchen one day.

Activity #2 - Reading for Fun!
We won't have any lessons for today. Make some tea or hot chocolate, find a comfy place, and enjoy a book of your choice for half an hour.

Activity #3 - Math
Head online to IXL or Khan Academy and spend some time learning about a new concept. Then spend time practicing. If you do this for about half an hour, that is probably good for your brain.

Activity #4 - Decorate your Street Facing Windows
We are currently living through a time in life when we are not allowed to be with people we love. It is hard to live in isolation and uncertainty. Re-read the quotation at the top of this post.
We are going to try and help people be happier as they go for walks in your neighbourhood. Get out a piece of lined paper and put it on a hard surface - maybe a clipboard or hard cover book. Go find some windows in your house that face the street. People going for walks in your neighbourhood should be able to see these windows.
Sketch your windows on your lined paper and then head back to your desk or work space. Spend some time drafting up a design you could put in your window to make other people's days more joyful.
Ex. You could cut out hearts in construction paper to make a rainbow. You could cut out construction paper in the shape of happy faces and put them together like a bunch of balloons. You could make a banner that says "Have a Great Day!"
Now that you've made a plan, get started decorating your windows! Be creative! Check online for some inspirational quotations. Make it colourful and joyful and have fun!

Activity #6 - Make Lunch
This recipe for Roasted Corn and Tomato Tostadas looks amazing! Check to make sure you have the ingredients and give it a try. https://www.americastestkitchen.com/kids/recipes/roasted-tomato-and-corn-tostadas
Remember to wash all the veggies you use and clean up after yourself.

Activity #7 - Make a Stop Motion Thank you Video
Time to be creative and use some tech. Watch a few YouTube tutorials on how to make stop motion videos, and then try to make a stop motion video to send to all the nurses and doctors in your life! You can email a link to them to share your finished creation. We all know people who are working really hard to take care of others right now. They will be so happy to receive such a cool gift made by you!
If this is the first time you are doing it, you will spend quite a bit of time figuring out how this works. One app that is referenced in the first tutorial video listed is Stop Motion Studio.

Happy stop motion creating!

Activity #8 - Rollerblading
Grab your siblings, your roller blades and maybe your parents. Go for a speedy roller blade around your neighbourhood. Remember to stay 2 metres away from others!

Activity #9 - Choose a Science Experiment!
This YouTube video has a whole bunch of experiments you could try out.
Before you attempt any of them, check with your parents to make sure they have supplies and are okay with you making a mess and mixing things to create cool things.
You could research the products and why they react the way they do when you are finished. Have fun!
Also - remember to clean up after yourself if you ever want to be allowed to make more messes on your own.

Activity #10 - Help Cook Dinner
If you need an idea, how about a Jambalaya Rice Bowl? My favourite recipe is from my Disneyland cookbook.
This recipe is really close: https://theforkedspoon.com/jambalaya-recipe/
Happy home cooking!

Activity #11 - Play Board Games
Get your family together and take a vote on the board game most of you want to play. If you need some new game ideas, Scrabble, Bananagrams, and Exploding Kittens are really fun. I also love Harry Potter Trivial Pursuit, Sushi Go and Codenames.
Happy game playing!
Hope you found some fun activities to do today. Thanks for reading!
Cheers!
Angela
