More quarantine Easter fun inside this post - Home Learning - Day 15
"Reflect upon your present blessings, of which every man has plenty; not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some."
- Charles Dickens
Welcome to another day of home school and social isolation. I hope the quotation above encourages all of us in our day. Enjoy the ideas below!
Activity #1 - Make Breakfast
Why not make today easy and pour yourself a bowl of cereal! If you have some frozen berries in the fridge you could defrost them and add them on top for extra nutrition. Remember to put your bowl and spoon in the dishwasher and put the cereal box away when you are finished with it.
Activity #2 - Home Workout
Put on some workout clothes, open YouTube on the TV or iPad and do this 30 minute workout.
Activity #3 - Math
Did you know that exercise turns your prefrontal cortex on so that it is better able to think? It is especially helpful to do exercise before math and science. Now that you are fully alert, log on to your favourite online math website, find something you don't know well, and learn about it!

Activity #4 - Make an Easter Wreath
Now that you've finished doing some math practice, challenge the creative side of your brain! Depending on your age and craft skill level, there are a bunch of different Easter wreaths you could attempt to make to decorate your house. Your final creation will also depend on the supplies you have in your house.

*There are a lot of other Easter crafts after the wreath, you could try those too if you feel inspired and have the supplies.

Have so much fun creating something to brighten up your home!
Activity #5 - Make Lunch - Buffalo Chicken Flatbread!
Get out your chef hat and apron! Check with your parents to make sure you have ingredients in the house and treat your family to a delicious lunch. Here is the recipe: https://www.americastestkitchen.com/kids/recipes/buffalo-chicken-lavash-flatbread
Remember to clean up after yourself when you're finished!
Activity #6 - Play Bocce
Grab your sibling(s) and your bocce set and head outside to play a round! If you don't know how to play, here are the rules: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hhN6S-1urM
Check with your parents to see if you have a bocce set. If you don't, you could order one online!
Activity #7 - Reading
Grab a novel, a tasty afternoon drink and head to your favourite place to read! Spend at least 30 minutes in a book of your choice. If it is nice outside, relax in a hammock or lounge! Remember to wear sunscreen if you are in direct sunlight.
Activity #8 - Bake Brownies
Watch this video about the science and chemistry of baking: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37pir0ej_SE
Now it is your turn to make a mixture! Follow this recipe to create a delicious chemical change that you can eat after dinner tonight! https://www.americastestkitchen.com/kids/recipes/best-bake-sale-brownies
Remember to clean up after yourself!
Activity #9 - Craft an Easter Card
Why not spend some time making a card for each of your parents to thank them for all they are doing for you right now. They are working full time, helping you with home school, and probably also helping older family members.
Here is a video tutorial you can follow: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcfrNdwh0nQ
Put your card on their pillows so they find them before they go to sleep. They will love the surprise!
Activity #10 - Make a Puzzle
Grab your siblings and make your favourite puzzle together.
Activity #11 - Help Cook Dinner
Ask your parents what you can do to help with dinner. If they don't want help you could set the table for your family. If you need a creative idea for dinner, we are having slow cooked split pea soup with tuna melts. Our fresh food is starting to run low and our grocery order isn't ready for another week!
Activity #12 - Family Walk
Head outside and walk around your neighbourhood. Say hi to people as you pass them from two metres away. Maybe watch the sunset. Enjoy all the extra time you have to be together as a family since there are no schedules to force you to be busy. :-)
Hope you found some fun ideas for your day!
Thanks for reading!
Cheers,
Angela
